Forgive me, but the question itself is somewhat vague, so I found it difficult to give you the answer you might be looking for. 

I suppose the way I interpret this question pertains to the idea that each purchase of a stock ought to be considered as though you are conducting a "deal" to acquire a portion of the business; as opposed to purchasing a ticker with a stock price attached to it. In a literal sense, the former is what all investors are doing. In reality, as far as the mentality is concerned, they are doing the latter. 

It's natural to think this way. While some of the greats say we should treat stocks as businesses and that the stock market is a distraction to the art of investing; the entire industry is geared towards distraction. Therefore the "logical" thing to do is actually the most difficult because it requires mental strength; strong enough to endure decades without portfolio-ending slips in judgement. 

Thinking about purchasing stocks as a "business deal" is therefore one method of counteracting the urge to think about stocks as betting slips. I am not sure if this answers your question, but feel free to ask another if not.
